Why does Panarottis offer nutritional analysis of its menu?
At Panarottis we believe it’s important to be transparent so our customers can make informed decisions as to what they eat. Calories VS Kilojoules:
The amount of energy in food is measured in terms of kilojoules or kilocalories. Kilocalories are commonly known as calories and abbreviated as kcal. The word 'kilojoule' ('kJ' on nutritional tables) is more commonly used in South Africa, whereas the Americans still use 'calorie'. Essentially, 'kilojoules' and 'calories' both define the energy value of food. One calorie (kcal) has the same energy value as 4.186 kilojoules (kJ), while one kilojoule is equivalent to 0.24 calories. One calorie is the amount of energy that will raise the temperature of one liter of water by 1 degree Celsius.
